The National Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education (EntreEd), in partnership with Intermediate Unit 1 (IU1), is proud to announce the launch of ΣTEAM Jumpstart: Educator Innovation Grant Lab. Funded by the Claude Worthington Benedum and EQT Foundations, this pilot initiative builds educator capacity and brings high-impact entrepreneurship education to classrooms across Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio, with a special focus on Fayette, Greene, and Washington Counties (PA) and surrounding rural regions.
EntreEd partnered with Appalachian State University and STEM West to facilitate the Appalachian Regional Commission’s (ARC) Appalachian Entrepreneurship Academy (AEA) from July 5 to 18, 2025, on App State’s campus in Boone, North Carolina. Twenty high school students from across the Appalachian region were selected through a competitive application process to participate in two immersive weeks of hands-on learning that sparked entrepreneurial thinking and built critical skills.
The Fostering Self ESTEAM (Entrepreneurship, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) in Appalachia’s Emerging Workforce grant is now concluded. As the EntreEd team looks back on the relationships we have built over the last 5-6 years, we are so grateful to have worked with you. Despite the pandemic, I am confident that together, we have delivered entrepreneurship education to thousands of students in rural Appalachia. We couldn’t have done it without the wonderful and very gratifying support we received from all of you.
